MARLETTE AREA CHAMBER OF
COMMERCE
Chamber Membership Letter 2008
Dear Chamber Friend: Your Chamber was again busy this year continuing to emphasize the business resources in our community along with focusing on activities that bring families and young children into the Marlette area. The Chamber Board welcomed many new members who are bringing new energy and ideas to the table. The Chamber sponsored events include: Winter - The Lighted Christmas Parade with special activities for the kids including a visit from Santa, Summer – we helped support the annual Marlette Country Fair Days, Fall – The First Annual Trick or Trunk, which was a great success, and we are pleased to announce that a committee is busy planning a special Spring activity so we have something special and unique for each of the four seasons along with other community-oriented activities that help acquaint people with all the fine businesses in the Marlette Area. Additionally, your Chamber again maintained an active role in supporting economic development efforts. We will continue to support (financially and through representation) efforts by the Sanilac Economic Alliance (SEA). In 2007, we implemented the “Shop in Marlette” campaign (see attached information) and plan to continue this campaign in 2008. We plan to extend these efforts into the 2008 year. We are excited to announce that we have updated the Marlette Chamber Bucks program and look forward to see the benefits of this program throughout the community of Marlette in 2008 (please see the attached information about this program). Membership dues remain the only source of funding for your Chamber and your board members have been good stewards of your contributions as reflected by a healthy fund balance. Again, the Chamber board has insisted that there be no increase in our dues structure. Please note that you also have the opportunity to support the business development efforts of the SEA. If you are so inclined, the Chamber will forward your contribution. Finally, I would like to invite your participation in the Chamber’s activities. We meet the first Wednesday of every month, at 8:00am. Just call our Secretary, Sarah Kady, at 989 635 7448 for more information. We rotate our meetings every quarter to get better acquainted with our membership! The meetings adjourn before 9:30am. Enclosed you will find your 2006 and 2007 Chamber tags. We apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience. Sincerely, Linda Wilson, Chamber President |
