Course Amenities

The course features 15 new 3 dimensional targets of various types. There are traditional game targets like deer, bear, turkey, bobcat, etc. as well as a zombie! The targets are placed in realistic settings which add to the challenge and fun. The course has been certified by the International Bowhunters Organization (IBO) and we are looking into hosting a world qualifier with this organization. Plans are to eventually have 30 or more targets on the course for area archers to enjoy. The course will be open to the public and any bow type shooting target tips will be allowed.

Youth shooters must be accompanied by an adult. Cost to shoot the course is $10 for adult and $5 for a student (under 17). Players may pick up a scorecard and course layout at the Marlette Golf Club/Coach House Tavern when they stop into pay.

Leagues are also forming and expectations are that the league will be twice as large as 2013. The format is 2 person teams. Teams will be handicapped and can be made up of any combination of adult, student, male or female shooters. "Last season we had several teams made up of parents shooting with their children and they had a great time! And because the league uses a handicap system, any team is competitive."

Last year compound bows were the primary type used, but divisions can be set up for other bow types depending on interest. The league season will be made up of 2 sessions of 7 weeks each, with a tournament following the 2nd season. Shooters can play in either or both sessions. Tournament players must have established a handicap in one of the sessions to be eligible to compete.

Anyone interested in joining the league or getting more information on open play can visit the Marlette Golf Club/Coach House Tavern or call Bill Kmet at 989-635-3009. Bob Hayward at Bob's Backyard Archery located at the corner of M-53 and Mayville Road in Marlette can also sign you up and provide information.
